The thread about Optionetics left me wondering about the other big "high pressure sales" force in the options biz - Jon Najarian.

This guy's mug is just about everywhere. It all seems to be focused on him as opposed to the education or the services that he wants to offer. I don't know if I've ever seen such a shameless self-promoter.

Am I mistaken? Has anyone tried this guy's stuff? Is it any good? Is he as shady as he comes across in his ads?

I tried his Heatseeker program a few years ago. He supposedly recommends hot options and you can then trade off that information.

Save your money!

It wasn't worth it at all. The trading recs were old or useless. These days, with the proliferation of options activity reports on the web, you really don't even need it.

I was very skeptical of the service to begin with, and I was right to be dubious. I don't know if I'd call it a scam (although the way that guy conducts himself and promotes his business is pretty shameful). But it definitely isn't worth the money.

In a word, yes. This guy is all sizzle, no steak. Loves to toot his own horn but not much else.

Of course, he's not even a doctor. And he looooves to talk about how he played for the Bears, even if it was only for a few downs before they booted him.

I think I once saw him show up on TV in a trading jacket with badges from three different exchanges. I'm not even a floor guy, and I know that is ridiculous. I would never give my money to this guy. Not in a million years.

Don't even post about this guy. He gets more than enough attention from those idiots on CNBC. We don't need to give him another forum. The only way to deal with shameless self-promoters like him is to ignore them. If you take away the spotlight that they crave, they shrivel up and die.

At the very least, they will go away...

Let's not even talk about this guy. It gives him too much credence to be mentioned on other websites. Let him spew his nonsense to the idiots on CNBC who don't know any better.

The rest of us will hang out here and shake our heads disapprovingly at the unknowing, and unwashed, masses.

Can I officially end this thread? We are giving this sheister WAAAYYY too much publicity. I don't think he needs any more ink, seeing that CNBC is content to promote him ad nauseum.

Perhaps this should lead to a better question:

What is wrong with CNBC to give any credence to a guy like this? Talk about a channel that has fallen far from its heyday.

People should be careful when throwing around the word "scam."

You may disagree with a firm's or an individual's promotional methods. That is entirely your prerogative.

However, that doesn't necessarily make them a scam. If you have experience with a particular firm or service, then we encourage you to share it with your fellow members. Otherwise, people should refrain from disparaging firms and services that they haven't personally tried.

I don't really "follow" any options gurus or traders out there. I obviously like this site, but these guys aren't trying to sell stuff or convince us that their picks are the best. I find that somewhat refreshing.

I guess I'm more of a self-directed trader. I make my own picks and determine my own entry and exit points. I think most of the people on this board and on this website probably fall into that same mold.

That's definitely me. That's why I read this board and this site. They help me to learn more so I can make more intelligent trades. God knows that I need the help.

Everybody should be aware that most analysts, options gurus, and assorted "professionals" that come on CNBC are there to "talk their own book", promote their firms , books or websites. It is an advertizing medium.

Guys and gals, the bottom line is that we as retail traders, have to be very carefull not to fall into the trap set out for us by the pros.
