Stocks jumped in the final hour and the Dow closed up 153.41 to 10,808.71 on positive EU crisis news. The S&P 500 followed suit and closed up 24.72 to 1,123.95. The Nasdaq rose 69 points for a 2,404.82 close.
The VIX closed at 40.82, down 4.63.
