FIA/OIC Options Conference Preview
No Room At The Inn
If you want more proof that the options business is booming, then look no further than the 2nd annual FIA/OIC New York Equity Options Conference. Last year the conference attracted the usual assortment of industry officials in routine numbers. It was an interesting event, yet hardly the hottest ticket in town.
What a difference a year makes. The conference hasn't even officially begun and already the sessions are standing-room only. The Wednesday afternoon "Equity Options Industry Update" session was so crowded that the audience spilled out into the adjoining corridor.
The Next Two Days
Of course, if you are planning to attend the conference, don't let one overcrowded session stop you. There will hopefully be more room in the main panel sessions tomorrow. Topics on the docket include the always colorful "Exchange Leaders Update," "Taking Stock of the Equity Options Industry," "Cross-Border Regulatory Issues" and, of course, "Portfolio Margining."
So, if you going to be in the New York City area tomorrow, then I highly suggest that you swing by the conference. However, don't worry if you can't attend. There will be plenty of information from the conference on the site over the next few days.
