Implied Volatility Movers
Apple Computer (AAPL) is up 4.8 percent to $157.21 after the company reported quarterly earnings that beat Street estimates thanks to surging iPhone sales. Shares are rallying and implied volatility has fallen to 27 percent and new 52-week low, down from almost 36 the day before.
Implied volatility is also lower in Boeing (BA), Bank of New York Mellon (BK), and Morgan Stanley (MS). Meanwhile, implied volatility is higher in Wells Fargo (WFC), Safeway (SWY), and Clorox (CLX).
Unusual Volume Movers
Caterpillar (CAT) options volume is running 2X the usual. 165,000 contracts traded and put volume accounting for 87 percent of today's volume.
Options activity in Yahoo (YHOO) rose to 2X the usual, with 124,000 traded and call volume representing about 69 percent of the activity.
Pfizer (PFE) options activity is running 2X the usual. 108,000 contracts traded and call volume accounting for about 58 percent of the activity.
Increasing volume was also seen in Qualcomm (QCOM), Starbuck's (SBUX), and Coca Cola (KO).
